Personalized Identity Stories

A Storybrook Reflection Written from the Pieces of Your Becoming

Every woman has lived through chapters that shaped her.

Some chapters gave her strength.
Some gave her wounds.
Some gave her roles she never asked to carry.
Some gave her names God never spoke over her.
Some taught her how to survive, but not how to rest.
Some made her wonder where the real woman went.

A Personalized Identity Story is a written Storybrook reflection created to help a woman see her life, faith, patterns, strengths, wounds, and becoming with more compassion and truth.

It is not a diagnosis.
It is not a label.
It is not someone else deciding who you are.

It is a meaningful written reflection shaped from your own story — the things you have lived, carried, overcome, questioned, grieved, learned, and begun to recognize with God.

At Storybrook, we do not believe your story defines you more than God does.

But we do believe your story matters.

And sometimes, when the pieces are gathered with care, a woman begins to see something she could not see while she was simply trying to survive.

What Is a Personalized Identity Story?

A Personalized Identity Story is a custom-written reflection created from the memories, themes, life chapters, questions, and insights you choose to share.

It may include:

  • Important chapters of your life

  • Roles you have carried

  • Old labels or names that affected you

  • Strengths and survival patterns

  • Faith questions and spiritual themes

  • Moments of loss, transition, courage, or change

  • Patterns you are beginning to notice

  • Gifts, longings, and parts of yourself that may have been buried

  • Scripture or biblical truth connected to your story

  • A hopeful reflection on the woman God is still shaping

This is written in the Storybrook voice — thoughtful, personal, faith-filled, and story-rich.

The goal is not to make your life sound perfect.

The goal is to help you recognize the truth beneath the story.

Who This Is For

A Personalized Identity Story may be meaningful for the woman who is:

  • Walking through The Truth Beneath Her Story

  • Coming out of a season of grief, survival, caregiving, divorce, ministry pain, motherhood changes, or transition

  • Trying to understand why old labels still feel powerful

  • Wondering who she is now

  • Ready to look at her life with more honesty and mercy

  • Wanting language for the woman she has been and the woman she is becoming

  • Seeking a meaningful keepsake from her Storybrook journey

  • Preparing for a next chapter and wanting to remember what God has revealed

This offering may be especially meaningful for the woman who keeps saying:

“I know there is more to my story than this.”

At Storybrook, we believe there is.

Connected to The Truth Beneath Her Story

Personalized Identity Stories are closely connected to Storybrook’s six-week identity journey, The Truth Beneath Her Story.

During identity work, women often begin to see the difference between what happened to them, what was spoken over them, what they learned to believe, and what God calls true.

A Personalized Identity Story can help gather those discoveries into one meaningful reflection.

It may become a way to remember:

What you have survived.
What you have carried.
What was never yours to keep.
What God has been healing.
What truth is rising again.
What part of you is beginning to come home.

For some women, this may be created near the end of a six-week journey.

For others, it may be a standalone writing created through guided questions and reflection.

Either way, the heart is the same:

Your identity is not found in the wound.

It is found in Christ.

But your story may help reveal where healing is still unfolding.

How the Process Works

1. You Share What You Want to Share

You will be invited to answer guided questions about your story, your life chapters, your faith, your wounds, your strengths, and what you are beginning to understand about yourself.

You are always in control of what you share.

Some women may share a full life timeline.

Some may focus on one season.

Some may share only the themes they want reflected.

Some may choose to keep certain details private and simply name what those seasons taught them.

There is no pressure to tell everything.

Your story belongs to you.

2. Michelle Looks for the Threads

Using what you share, Michelle will prayerfully look for themes, patterns, images, Scriptures, and pieces of your story that seem important to honor.

This may include:

  • Repeated roles you have carried

  • Labels that shaped your self-understanding

  • Moments where courage was present, even if you did not recognize it then

  • Places where grief or shame tried to name you

  • Ways God may have preserved, formed, or strengthened you

  • Gifts and longings that have been waiting beneath the surface

  • A symbol or image that helps hold part of your story

This is not about analyzing you from a distance.

It is about listening closely to what your story is already saying.

3. You Receive a Written Reflection

Your Personalized Identity Story may be written as:

  • A reflective story

  • A letter-style piece

  • A Storybrook-style narrative

  • A written blessing over your becoming

  • A keepsake from your six-week journey

  • A closing reflection for your identity work

  • A private document for your own prayer and remembrance

Depending on the option selected, the piece may be short and focused or more detailed and layered.

It may include Scripture, meaningful imagery, personal themes, and a hopeful closing that points back to Christ.

What This Is Not

Because identity work is sacred, it should be handled responsibly.

A Personalized Identity Story is not:

  • A clinical assessment

  • A psychological diagnosis

  • A replacement for counseling or therapy

  • A complete account of your whole life

  • A promise that every wound is fully healed

  • Someone else telling you who you are

  • A public testimony unless you choose to share it

This is your story.

You decide how private it remains.

You decide whether it is shared, printed, saved, prayed through, or simply held between you and God.

Storybrook’s role is to help shape language around what you are already beginning to see.

Storybrook-Style Identity Reflection

At Storybrook, identity stories often pay attention to the images, objects, and memories that carry meaning.

A key.
A name.
A house.
A road.
A chair.
A garden.
A photograph.
A sentence someone said years ago.
A role you played for so long you forgot it was not your name.
A moment when you realized you were tired of living as the version of yourself pain created.

These details matter because they often reveal where the heart has been shaped.

A Personalized Identity Story may gather those details and help you see them through the lens of grace.

Not to keep you tied to the past.

But to help you understand it with truth.

Possible Identity Story Options

Short Identity Reflection
A shorter written piece focused on one theme, season, label, or realization from your story.

Full Personalized Identity Story
A more detailed Storybrook-style reflection shaped around your life chapters, themes, faith, wounds, strengths, and becoming.

Six-Week Journey Closing Story
A written reflection created at the end of The Truth Beneath Her Story as a meaningful way to mark what God has been revealing.

Next Chapter Reflection
A piece for the woman stepping into a new season and wanting language for who she is becoming and what she is carrying forward.

Symbol-Based Identity Story
A reflection shaped around a meaningful image or symbol from your life — such as a key, lantern, brook, house, tree, road, stone, or another object that holds personal meaning.

For Women Who Want to Keep Details Private

Some women may want the beauty of an identity reflection without placing every personal detail into a written story.

That is completely understandable.

For especially private, legal, family, caregiving, custody, divorce, or complicated personal situations, Storybrook may offer a more self-completed format.

In this option, Michelle provides guided prompts and structure, but you complete the most personal parts in your own words and keep those details in your possession.

Your story does not have to be fully written by someone else to be honored.

Sometimes the most meaningful work happens when the page becomes yours alone.

A Note from Michelle

I know what it is to carry names that were never mine.

I know what it is to be shaped by wounds and then wonder why I still feel their shadow years later.

I know what it is to function, serve, love, believe, and keep going while parts of my own heart were still asking, “But who am I really?”

That is part of why identity work matters so much to me.

Not as a trendy word.

Not as self-help.

But as ministry.

Because I have seen how many women live for years under names God never gave them.

Strong one.
Difficult one.
Responsible one.
Invisible one.
Too much.
Not enough.
The one who holds it together.
The one who should be over it by now.

And somewhere beneath all of that is a woman God still knows by her true name.

When I write a Personalized Identity Story, my heart is not to make someone’s life sound prettier than it was.

My heart is to help gather the pieces with honesty and care, then hold them up to the light of Christ.

To say:

This hurt you, but it does not own you.

This shaped you, but it does not get the final word.

This was spoken over you, but it was not the voice of God.

This chapter mattered, but it is not the whole story.

There is truth beneath what happened.

There is a woman beneath the labels.

And God has not lost sight of her.

If your story has made it hard to recognize yourself, I would be honored to help you begin seeing what God has never stopped seeing.

Request a Personalized Identity Story

If you are interested in a Personalized Identity Story, you may begin by sharing a little about what you are looking for.

You do not have to have your whole story organized.

You can begin with one season.

One label.

One question.

One sentence:

“I think I am ready to understand my story differently.”

That is enough for a beginning.

Before You Go

You are not only what happened to you.

You are not only what they called you.

You are not only who you had to become to survive.

There is truth beneath the story.

There is identity beneath the labels.

There is a woman God still sees.

And her story is still being written.
